"The 2003 Xtant (a 1,400-case blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec and 10% Merlot) offers complex aromas of cedar, earth, chocolate, espresso roast, cassis, and blackberries. Even though it is from St. Helena, there is a Rutherford dust component to its aromatics. The wine possesses sweet tannins, full body, rich, concentrated fruit, and a long finish. It should drink well for a decade or more."

"Complex, velvety and totally charming; notes of spice, cassis, chocolate and vanilla; 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 15% Malbec."
Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences, Volume XII, Issue 34
(XTANT Napa Valley 2003):
"Exceptional... Superb aroma of dried cherries, faint herbal notes, and a deep layer of mid-palate fruit plus a delicate smoke note from French oak aging. A lot better than some of the $100 cult wines... perfectly structured, so the tannins were softer and more in balance with the other elements in the wine (fruit, acids, sugars, etc.)."
